Senior Railway Officer Caught Red-Handed Taking ₹1.70 Lakh Bribe in Varanasi
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Neetesh Agarwal, Senior Divisional Materials Manager (Sr. DMM) of the North Eastern Railway’s Varanasi Division, while he was accepting a bribe of ₹1.70 lakh.
The arrest followed a complaint from a registered vendor who supplies furniture to the railways. Agarwal had reportedly demanded the bribe to pass long-pending bills and clear outstanding dues for past supply orders.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the senior official red-handed at his residence on the Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) campus. Following the arrest, officials searched his office at the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) complex in Lahartara, seizing crucial documents and questioning staff.
The officer was taken into CBI custody and presented before the Special CBI Court in Lucknow for further legal proceedings.
