Uttarakhand University Cancels Two B.Tech Exams Over Paper Leak
Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) in Dehradun has cancelled two B.Tech semester examinations—Machine Learning for IoT and Electromagnetic Field Theory—following an alleged question paper leak.
An inquiry revealed that an external paper setter, an Assistant Professor at Shivalik College of Engineering, shared nearly 50 identical exam questions with students via WhatsApp and an internal portal prior to the test.
Following the disclosure, Dehradun Police registered an FIR and arrested the faculty member. UTU barred him from examination duties for seven years, while the college immediately terminated his employment.
The cancellation affects students across 12 affiliated institutes. To protect academic integrity, the university announced that fresh examinations for both subjects will be rescheduled for the third week of August 2026. Students have been advised to monitor the official UTU portal for the updated schedule.
