Air India Appoints Aviation Veteran Tewolde Gebremariam as New CEO

Air India has officially named former Ethiopian Airlines chief Tewolde Gebremariam as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, succeeding Campbell Wilson.

Tata Sons and Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran stated that with the initial phase of stabilization and fleet integration complete, the carrier is moving into a critical execution and expansion era.

Gebremariam brings a proven track record of mega-scale airline turnarounds, having previously transformed Ethiopian Airlines into Africa's largest and most profitable carrier during his decade-long tenure.

The leadership transition is aimed at sharpening Air India's focus on operational excellence, enhanced international connectivity, global hub development, and sustainable long-term profitability under the ownership of the Tata Group.
