Delhi Police Register FIR Over Pellet Injuries After Rahul Gandhi's Protest
New Delhi: Delhi Police have registered an FIR following allegations that a 19-year-old student protester sustained severe pellet-gun injuries during a July protest march over paper-leak controversies.
The case comes in the wake of high-profile political intervention, including a sit-in staged by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi outside the Parliament Street Police Station.
Gandhi publicly displayed a container of metallic pellets, citing medical records showing over 200 pellets lodged in the victim, Sahil Lochab, who subsequently underwent surgeries at AIIMS Trauma Centre.
While authorities initially denied deploying pellet guns during the demonstration, mounting pressure and legal follow-ups forced the formal registration of the case.
