Two Dead, 100+ Rescued After Electric Vehicle Fire Traps Noida Residents
Noida : A tragic fire broke out in a five-story residential building in Noida’s Mamura village on Wednesday, leaving two dead and over 100 residents trapped.
Preliminary investigations indicate the blaze was triggered by a spark from an electric scooter charging in the ground-floor parking area. The fire quickly spread to nearby petrol two-wheelers, sending thick, toxic smoke up the staircases and cutting off the building's main escape routes.
Seven fire tenders and hydraulic platforms were deployed to rescue trapped families, many of whom were pulled to safety using ladders from neighboring roofs. Unfortunately, a man and a woman with pre-existing health conditions succumbed to severe smoke inhalation. Police have taken the landlord and leaseholder into custody for negligence, and an investigation into the building’s safety compliance is underway.
