U.S. Iran Conflict Surpasses $38 Billion as Monthly Costs Surge
The U.S. military conflict with Iran has officially surpassed $38 billion in total Department of Defense expenditures, according to a recent Congressional Budget Office assessment.
Pentagon spending is projected to accelerate further, climbing by up to $3 billion monthly as hostilities persist.
The vast majority of these funds—roughly $21.7 billion—are dedicated to restocking depleted munitions, specifically high-cost missile defense interceptors that have drained crucial strategic stockpiles.
Beyond direct military outlays, the conflict continues to send shockwaves through the global economy. Ongoing shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have pushed oil and gas prices upward, driving U.S. inflation roughly 0.5 percentage points above earlier forecasts.
As the White House navigates ongoing congressional negotiations for a major supplemental funding package, defense analysts warn that fully rebuilding baseline military inventories and stabilizing energy supply chains will take years.
