Gurugram Hit-And-Run Driver Kalyan Bainsla Arrested In Rajasthan, Attempt-To-Murder Charge Added

Gurugram: The Gurugram Police have successfully apprehended Kalyan Bainsla, the driver accused of intentionally ramming his white Maruti Suzuki Ciaz into a woman sports biker on the city's Golf Course Road. Bainsla, a gym owner and former kabaddi player from Palwal, was tracked down and arrested in Rajgarh, Rajasthan.

The high-profile road rage incident came to light after dashcam and helmet-cam footage surfaced online, showing the vehicle aggressively tailing and cutting across lanes to knock down Delhi-based biker Shivani Chauhan (known online as Sia). Sia, who was riding an Aprilia RS 457, slid several meters across the asphalt but avoided life-threatening injuries due to her protective riding gear.

Following a rigorous review of CCTV and viral video evidence, authorities upgraded the case by invoking Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempt to murder, which carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years. Bainsla had initially been booked under provisions for rash driving, stalking, and outraging a woman's modesty.

While the accused claimed the crash was an accidental loss of control near a U-turn and that he fled out of fear of a mob, the victim strongly refuted his defense, highlighting that he failed to check on her after the violent collision. Police teams are conducting further interrogations as the investigation proceeds.
