Woman held in Thane for killing husband for not buying her sarees

Thane: A 30-year-old woman, Sunita Hariram Singh, was arrested by the Badlapur East police in Thane district, Maharashtra, for allegedly killing her 35-year-old husband, Hariram Kishunji Singh.

A heated argument broke out between the couple at their rented home in Badlapur East after Hariram reportedly failed to bring sarees for his wife as promised.

As the argument escalated, the couple's seven-year-old son ran to a neighbor's house to seek help. However, before anyone could intervene, Sunita allegedly hit her husband with the lid of a pressure cooker and then strangled him to death.

To conceal the crime, Sunita told the house owner and neighbors that Hariram had suffered a sudden heart attack following their argument. Police initially registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) based on her statement.

The post-mortem examination revealed physical injuries and asphyxiation inconsistent with a natural death. Upon detailed police questioning, Sunita confessed to the murder.  Police ActionThe police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and arrested the accused. The couple's seven-year-old son has been placed under the care of relatives while further investigation continues.
