Jharkhand Protests Enter Day 21 Students Plan Tiranga Yatra for Independence Day

Ranchi: The widespread protests led by job aspirants and students in Jharkhand agitating under the banner of the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch against alleged irregularities in state recruitment examinations—have officially entered their 21st day. Demonstrators continue their sit-in at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, remaining resolute as negotiations and administrative crackdowns persist.

Despite multiple rounds of discussions between state ministerial panels and student representatives, a complete deadlock remains. The student body refuses to step back from its core demands, which include:

Complete cancellation of disputed examinations, notably the JSSC-CGL test.

An independent investigation by the CBI or a panel of retired judges from outside the state.

Enhanced transparency protocols and rigorous legislation to penalize paper leaks.

While the state government has conceded to several preliminary requests—including the cancellation of specific preliminary tests and rolling out administrative probes—the refusal to hand the investigation over to the CBI keeps the agitation alive.

‘Tiranga Yatra’ Planned for India’s Independence Day

Marking the milestone of Independence Day, leaders of the movement have announced a special ‘Tiranga Yatra’ across Ranchi. Protesters emphasized that carrying out the national flag march will serve to unify the masses and further fortify their ongoing peaceful movement, ensuring that their voice for employment rights remains at the forefront.

Escalating Administrative Actions and CID Raids

Tensions have risen following clashes during the recent Vidhan Sabha gherao march. The Ranchi Police registered First Information Reports (FIRs) against hundreds of unidentified individuals following incidents of stone-pelting and subsequent security actions, prompting warnings from student unions against targeting genuine protestors. Concurrently, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) has intensified its crackdown, conducting multiple state-wide raids and making several arrests in connection with examination irregularities.

Meanwhile, several student leaders continue indefinite hunger strikes, with health complications requiring medical supervision, even as communication channels with state officials remain open to explore a breakthrough.
