Akali Dal Chief Sukhbir Badal Injured in Sword Attack at Nanded Gurdwara; One Arrested

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal sustained a hand injury after being attacked with a sharp weapon by a Nihang individual near a gurdwara in Maharashtra's Nanded.

The incident occurred while Badal, accompanied by his family and close associates, was visiting the religious site.

Security personnel swiftly intervened at the scene, overpowering the assailant and taking him into custody. Badal was immediately rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment and is reported to be out of danger.

This marks the second major security scare for the SAD chief, following a December 2024 assassination attempt where he narrowly survived gunfire at the entrance of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Local authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the latest security breach to determine the full motive behind the assault.
