Amit Shah Slams Punjab AAP Govt Over Rising Drug Trade and Gangsterism
Chandigarh: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration in Punjab, accusing it of presiding over a sharp rise in organized crime, gangster networks, and the state's deeply entrenched drug trade.
Targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Shah asserted that the public demands decisive action and concrete results rather than hollow announcements. His remarks follow severe incidents, including the killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa and a tragic case in Dirba, prompting the Ministry of Home Affairs to seek an official explanation from the state government.
Shah also emphasized the urgent necessity for impartial investigations into any potential political patronage shielding criminals and drug syndicates. With security and the drug menace serving as major electoral flashpoints, the Home Minister reaffirmed the BJP's pledge to uproot organized crime and restore the rule of law in Punjab. This high-stakes political clash underscores central government concerns over border-state security, citizen safety, and institutional accountability, setting the stage for intense political friction in the upcoming election cycle.
