Abhishek Banerjee Challenges TMC Rebels: ‘Return and I Will Resign Within an Hour’
Kolkata Following TMC’s recent West Bengal electoral setback, party National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee issued a fierce ultimatum to party defectors. Speaking outside Mamata Banerjee’s residence, he dared rebel leaders—who blamed his leadership for their exit—to return to the party fold.
"If they return to Didi, I will quit my party posts within one hour," Abhishek challenged.
He accused the rebels of orchestrating backroom deals with the BJP to escape central agency scrutiny, contrasting their actions with his own willingness to face ED and CBI summons. Abhishek set a strict deadline, stating doors are open for reconciliation only until the July 21 Martyrs' Day rally.
The rebel faction, claiming to be the "real TMC," dismissed the dare, alleging Mamata Banerjee favored family ties over loyal workers. The BJP labeled the statement a theatrical, hollow stunt.
