IAF AN-32 aircraft crashes while landing at Assam's Jorhat airbase
New Delhi: An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Air Force Station in Assam's Jorhat district on Saturday, triggering an immediate response from defence authorities.
The incident took place at the IAF's Rowriah airbase in Jorhat during the landing phase of the flight, according to a defence spokesperson.
Senior IAF officials have rushed to the crash site to assess the situation and oversee rescue and response efforts. Authorities are yet to confirm whether there were any casualties or injuries in the incident.
"An Indian Air Force aeroplane, AN-32, has crashed while landing in Assam's Jorhat district on Saturday," the defence spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that the aircraft went down while landing at the IAF's airbase in the Rowriah area and that details regarding casualties, if any, are still being ascertained.
Further details are awaited as investigations and assessment of the incident continue.
