UN aid plan disburses 75% of USD 35.4 mn raised for Cyclone Ditwah victims in Sri Lanka
COLOMBO: A UN-led fundraising initiative for victims of Cyclone Ditwah has disbursed 75 per cent of the more than USD 35 million mobilised under the programme, Sri Lankan authorities said on Thursday.
The announcement was made at the conclusion of the United Nations' Humanitarian Priorities Plan (HPP), which was launched following the devastating cyclone that struck Sri Lanka in November last year, seeking USD 35.4 million in assistance for the affected communities
"Each affected family received an allowance of LKR 27,000 through Divisional Secretariats, while a range of additional relief measures, including the construction of temporary housing, were also implemented," President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's office said.
