Leh: During his address on the first anniversary of the Leh violence, Sonam Wangchuk specifically called out national opposition leaders—calling attention to a perceived double standard in their political advocacy.

SilenceSelective Outrage: Wangchuk pointed out that while national opposition figures (such as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi) have previously demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over incidents like police action against students in New Delhi, they have largely remained muted regarding the heavy-handed measures and civilian deaths in Ladakh.
The "AK-47" Contrast: He questioned why opposition leaders who speak out on central issues fail to address the use of automatic weapons like AK-47s against young protesters in a sensitive border region, or the subsequent labeling of local youth as "anti-national".
National Responsibility: Wangchuk emphasized that fighting for democracy, justice, and constitutional safeguards (like the Sixth Schedule) in Ladakh should not be left solely to Ladakhis, arguing that national political parties share a responsibility to stand up for the democratic rights of citizens in border territories
