Sonam Wangchuk Demands Immunity for Student Protesters Before Ending Hunger Strike
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has set a strict condition to end his indefinite hunger strike: a written guarantee from the Union Government that no retaliatory legal action will be taken against youth and students who participated in the 'Chalo Sansad' protest.
In a formal appeal to Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, Wangchuk urged the Centre to drop charges against the peaceful protesters who raised their voices against paper leaks and demanded systemic reforms in the education sector.
While the government indicated a willingness to consider parliamentary debates on exam transparency and offer financial assistance to families affected by exam controversies, Wangchuk reaffirmed that protecting young citizens from harassment remains non-negotiable.
He stated he will continue his fast indefinitely until an unequivocal assurance is granted, emphasizing that the future of India's youth must not be compromised.
