New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has called upon Gen Z and young citizens across India to mobilize peaceful demonstrations demanding immediate, strict action for women's safety, declaring that the current administration is deaf to public suffering and only moves when placed under intense pressure.
Addressing recurring security failures, such as the alarming assault on a 16-year-old girl in South Delhi, Gandhi vehemently rejected official victim-blaming advisories that instruct women to stay indoors or avoid public areas at night. He described such stances as a systemic failure that shields criminals while unfairly restricting personal freedom.
Emphasizing that peaceful assembly is a core democratic right, Gandhi pledged his complete solidarity with the protesting youth. He stressed that locking women away is no solution; instead, the state must secure public spaces, dismantle patriarchal mindsets, and enforce swift justice.
