Opposition Rallies Demand Prosecution of CEC Gyanesh Kumar Over Electoral Roll Row
NEW DELHI — Political tensions have reached a boiling point following intense opposition demands for the criminal prosecution of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, whom leaders have accused of "treason" over alleged electoral manipulation.
The uproar escalated after investigative reports revealed that two fellow Election Commissioners had allegedly recorded multiple internal objections over a 10-month period concerning voter roll procedures, deletions, and centralized software controls. Prominent opposition figures, including Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, asserted that anyone compromising the democratic framework through mass voter disenfranchisement should face strict legal accountability. Calls for resignations, arrests, and the cancellation of recent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) processes have echoed across INDIA bloc parties.
