New Trilateral Defence Pact Signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement to establish a powerful trilateral security umbrella, stipulating that an armed attack on one nation is considered an attack on all three.
The pact is primarily driven by intense regional volatility—such as the conflicts involving Iran, Israel, and the United States—which has severely exposed Gulf vulnerabilities and disrupted vital maritime trade.
Furthermore, persistent security threats from Yemen and diminishing trust in traditional Western security guarantees have pushed these regional powers to seek independent deterrence.
By uniting, the bloc pools complementary strengths: Saudi financial and geopolitical capital, Turkey's advanced defense manufacturing and drone technology, and Pakistan's formidable military infrastructure alongside its nuclear deterrent.
