Nagoya : Star Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu delivered a stellar performance at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, claiming the silver medal in the women's 49kg category.
Key Highlights of the Event
Total Lift: Chanu lifted a combined total of 198 kg, successfully clearing 87 kg in the snatch and 111 kg in the clean and jerk.
Completing the Collection: This maiden Asian Games medal fills the final major void in Chanu's illustrious career, adding to her Tokyo Olympic silver, World Championship medals, and consecutive Commonwealth Games golds.
Ending a 28-Year Drought: Her podium finish marks India's first weightlifting medal at the Asian Games in 28 years, stretching back to Karnam Malleswari's medal feat in 1998.
