LPU Suspends Classes and Postpones Midterms Amid Campus Protests

Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab has suspended regular classes for ten days and postponed its mid-term examinations following intense campus unrest.

The demonstrations erupted over unverified social media claims regarding an alleged crime on campus.

Protests quickly escalated as students blocked National Highway-44, leading to clashes with law enforcement, stone-pelting, and damage to property.

In response, local authorities have registered an FIR and deployed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter.

To restore order and prioritize safety, university management has urged students to rely only on official communications via the University Management System (UMS).

Students have been given the option to return home during this period or remain inside their hostels under safety advisories. A revised examination schedule will be announced soon.
