Lok Sabha Passes Stricter Anti-Paper Leak Bill

The Lok Sabha has passed the Public Examinations Amendment Bill, introducing harsher penalties to combat examination fraud amid intense political debate.

The legislation significantly raises the minimum prison term for individuals involved in malpractices from three to five years, extendable up to 10 years, alongside fines reaching up to 50 lakh rupees.

For organized syndicates and service providers, fines are substantially increased up to 10 crore and 5 crore rupees respectively, accompanied by strict debarment periods and senior management liability.

To expedite justice, the framework establishes special fast-track courts, mandating completion of investigations within two months and trial conclusions in three months.

While the government defended the measure as essential to protect student futures and dismantle cheating networks, the opposition criticized the handling of youth employment.

The bill now proceeds to the Rajya Sabha for consideration.
