Indian Army Launches High-Tech Labs to Purge Foreign Security Bugs from Drones and CCTVs
To neutralize hidden foreign vulnerabilities and espionage risks, the Indian Army has established a specialized network of high-tech testing laboratories.
Operating under the project name AASHVAST (Assessment and Analysis of Electronic Systems Hardware for Vulnerabilities and Security Threats), these facilities conduct rigorous security audits on military-grade hardware.
The initiative focuses heavily on drones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and CCTV cameras.
With rising concerns over supply chain compromises—including components disguised as indigenous products—the labs use advanced validation suites to detect hidden backdoors, spyware, and malicious firmware.
Crucially, AASHVAST aims to catch sophisticated exploits, such as geo-fenced bugs or time-delayed failure codes designed to trigger in sensitive border sectors.
By thoroughly screening all electronic components, the Indian Army is fundamentally strengthening its cyber-physical resilience against foreign surveillance and sabotage.
