Extreme Monsoon Downpours Trigger Flights Chaos and Runway Delays at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: Relentless monsoon rains coupled with severe low visibility have paralyzed operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). Heavy downpours and gusty winds forced air traffic control to suspend all runway operations for over an hour, triggering massive structural backlogs across domestic and international networks.

As of Monday afternoon, at least 17 flights have been completely cancelled, while over 217 arrivals and departures face extensive delays. Major carriers, including IndiGo and Akasa Air, have issued urgent advisories urging passengers to check their flight status online before departing for the airport.
