Bengaluru 5-Star Hotels Nabbed for Expired Food
A special inspection drive conducted by the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) across several prominent 3-star and 5-star hotels in Bengaluru uncovered severe hygiene lapses and food safety violations.
Officials raided 26 luxury establishments, uncovering severe violations, including rotten vegetables, expired milk, and spoiled meat stored in unhygienic conditions.
Major properties faced immediate crackdowns. Authorities seized 76 kg of meat, 200 kg of vegetables, and 32 liters of expired milk at The Lalit Ashok, while Radisson Blu Atria, Taj Yeshwantpur, Four Seasons, Shangri-La, and Vivanta also had unsafe food confiscated and destroyed.
In total, 35 food samples were dispatched for laboratory analysis, and formal legal adjudication proceedings have been initiated against the defaulting hotels.
Health officials emphasized that targeting elite luxury properties aims to set a strict compliance precedent across the entire hospitality sector, ensuring consumer health and safety are never compromised.
