Authoritarian Signal: Ambedkar’s Grandson Condemns CJP Protest Crackdown

Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) president Prakash Ambedkar strongly criticized the police crackdown on youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters in Delhi, warning that suppressing peaceful demonstrations signals a shift toward authoritarianism.

Highlighting the harsh tactics used against student activists and the forceful removal of activist Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar, Ambedkar stated that a functional democracy is tested by how it handles disagreement rather than conformity.

Invoking Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s historical 1949 Constituent Assembly speech, he emphasized that constitutional democracy requires institutions to stay responsive to citizen grievances.

He warned that attempting to silence dissent and curb opposition voices has historically failed every ruling regime in the long run.

The youth-led CJP movement has been protesting over systemic issues like examination paper leaks and graduate unemployment.
