Around two dozen workers feared trapped as under-construction roof collapses at Kannauj railway station
LUCKNOW: At least 20 labourers are feared trapped under the debris of an under-construction lintel that collapsed at a railway station in Kannauj on Saturday at around 2:30 pm.
According to district authorities involved in the relief and rescue operations, 15 workers have been rescued, with two in critical condition.
Approximately 30–35 workers were engaged in construction work at the site at the time of the accident. All those rescued have been rushed to the district hospital.
Police and administrative teams are actively engaged in the rescue efforts. The incident occurred during the beautification work at the station.
The Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Minister and BJP MLA from Kannauj (Sadar) constituency, Aseem Arun, who was present at the site, stated that the priority was to rescue all those feared trapped under the debris.
