Fourth India vs South Africa T20I called off due to fog in Lucknow, Gill set to miss last game with toe injury
LUCKNOW: The fourth T20I between India and South Africa on Wednesday was called off due to fog engulfing the Ekana Stadium.
The decision was taken as the thick layer of smog would have been a hindrance for the fielders, especially when balls are hit in the air.
The BCCI's Tours and Fixtures Committee's decision to slot matches in the eastern and northern regions of the country during winters has come under the scanner.
Meanwhile, out-of-form India vice-captain Shubman Gill is set to miss the last game against South Africa with a toe injury, sources close to the team said.
It is learnt that Gill sustained the injury during a training session and all precautionary measures are being taken to ensure his speedy recovery.
Sanju Samson is likely to play as an opener in Gill's place.
